This family is super special to me. As a special needs mom, I meet many other wonderful families and moms who quickly become friends. This is Natalie’s family. Photography like this is my absolute favorite – it means so much to the people in the images and shows them how absolutely beautiful they really are. We met up at Hager Park for this special needs photography session that was long overdue.
Miss Natalie (or Little Miss Incredible that her momma so lovingly calls her) is almost a year old already. You may remember her momma’s maternity session from last summer at this same park (click here to see the photos). Roseli and I made a connection and quickly became friends way back then. She was expecting a sweet baby with upper limb differences like my sweet daughter which bonds two mommas like nothing else!
After Natalie was born, she ended up staying in the hospital for quite a long time. Roseli and I kept in touch and decided that the second we had a chance, we would get together for family photos to capture the beauty of her sweet family….
…..but our schedules never seemed to line up.
Soon, Miss Natalie ended up back in the hospital for months. This time, her team of doctors told Roseli to prepare because Natalie wouldn’t be going home….not here on earth that is.
My heart was absolutely shattered. I cried myself to sleep several times wondering why I just didn’t clear my schedule and make those photos happen. Surely, anyone who was scheduled would understand me needing to prioritize photos for something like this. Someone so sweet and special that should be remembered for how absolutely perfect she is by her momma and siblings. My heart was broken that I wouldn’t be able to give that to her.
As you can see, Natalie is a fighter. After endless prayers by our family and MANY others, Natalie truly was a proven miracle and showed the world that sometimes the fight in a momma and a tiny little baby is stronger than a prognosis.
We took those photos and Roseli and I rejoiced together! For someone I have only seen in person two times now, Roseli will always be extremely special to me.
This momma is a fighter and NEVER gave up! I know for certain that Natalie wouldn’t be here if her mom didn’t fight so hard for her. If her mom just took the advice that was given to her, Natalie wouldn’t see her first birthday. Her mom followed her instinct and takes everything head on that comes her way. Her mom is a rockstar.
And Natalie is absolutely perfect and wonderfully made. Goodness, what perspective these wonderful kids give to our lives.
Keep shining momma and being their number one cheerleader.
You’ve got this!
Roseli – thank you so much for trusting me with your family’s precious images. I hope they show you how beautiful, strong and independent you are. YOU are one amazing mom. Don’t ever forget that!
xoxo – Kellie
