Name: Dave & Shellee Wedding Date: August 20, 2011 Location: Fox Hill Event Center, Cadillac MI
Dave & Shellee had a gorgeous wedding in Cadillac! All of the purple was so pretty….one of my favorite colors!!
1 – How do you like being married? Is it all that you dreamed it would be?
We love being married! However, honestly it’s not much different than being engaged. We have been married for almost 2 years, and it’s great. We’re still learning so much about each other.
2 – If you could change anything about your wedding day, what would it be? Or did it go exactly as planned?
Everything went smoothly, and went exactly as I planned. However, the day we got married it felt like it was 200 degrees!!! I think I would have planned better for the guests, attendants, and me! My hair went flat, and the groomsmen were sweating like crazy…. And it was an indoor wedding…
3 – Do you have any funny stories or did anything crazy happen on that day?
Although our wedding day was everything we could have hoped for, rehearsal was less than ideal. While rehearing our vows, my husband passed out and was rushed to the hospital! We thought it was only dehydration and we would be out of there in an hour or two. You can imagine our horror when the doctor come in and told us it was complications with an unknown stomach condition, and he would have to spend the night, and he would not make it to the wedding! We had to plead with the doctors, and sign a release form to get my husband home from the hospital by morning. After that awful night, anything could have went wrong with the wedding, and I honestly wouldn’t have cared, as long as I would have been able to married David. (I remember that so well….scary! Makes me tear up thinking about it again!)
4 – What was your favorite part about your wedding? Any special vendors, details, etc?
On the day of the wedding itself, my husband and I loved the string quartet we hired. They played at our cocktail hour and during our ceremony. During the Unity Candle, they played “Nothing Else Matters” , a song which was completely unique and character to “us”. During our reception, our guests loved our photo booth. However, looking back, definitely having Hetler Photography was the most important detail. ( I promise I didn’t make her say that!) I love my wedding pictures! I have them decorating our home, and we will use them to remember one of the most important days of our lives for years to come. (I would love to see some pics of how you have them incorporated!!)
5 – What were your favorite images? Do any of them have any special meaning behind them?
So many images were able to capture the day, by our favorites were the ones that weren’t planned or posed for. Kellie was able to capture things we didn’t even realize were great moments until we got the proofs back. There was an image of a toast of just the wedding party, captured from the bottom, which is one of our favorites. A family favorite is capturing the moment just after my dad and I finished dancing. We also love the ones captured at sunset of just us.
6 – Do you have any advice for soon-to-be brides that may help in their planning and enjoying of their wedding day?
On your wedding day, you won’t believe how fast the day flies! Enjoy it while you can by trusting your bridesmaids and the people you love to handle everything that comes up, or you’ll spend the day worrying. And it’s never too early to start planning! I started 2 ½ years before my wedding and I was actually able to relax on the day of my wedding. (Wedding coordinators can help you relax and enjoy the day too! Just my advice 🙂 )
7 – Did you two go on a honeymoon? Tell me a little about it!
My husband and I went to Ireland for 2 weeks. It was a pub and folk tour, and we traveled mainly the Southern part of Ireland. It was so FUN! The best honeymoon anyone could ask for, and it was truly amazing. ( I may be a little bit jealous. Added to my list of places to see!)
