Grand Rapids Photographer // Beautiful Sallie & Jillian!
The last two ladies for our “Beauty is a Choice” series are Sallie and Jillian. Two sweet, kind-hearted souls that you can definitely tell are related.
When I first started chatting with these two, I soon realized that they lived in the same town as my husband, Joe. We continued talking more and realized that Sallie lives just around the corner from my mother in law, Sally. The funniest part is that they didn’t even find out about our contest through me….they knew Shelby, the event planner. What a small world!
All mothers need nice photos like this with their daughters!
Jillian nominated her mother, Sallie, but we decided they should both be included in on the fun! This is what she had to say:
“Hi! I would like to nominate my Mom, Sallie, for your photo session giveaway. My mom has always put everyone else first. She worked as a homecare nurse for several years while taking care of her family at the same time. In 2013 my Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon and liver cancer, only a month after my husband and I were married. Even while going through a terrifying diagnoses she cared for others, spending her time knitting chemo caps for other patients and scarves and hats to donate to the special Olympics.When we found out my mom was sick my husband and I left our newlywed home to move back in with my parents so that I could take care of her while my Dad was at work. In the time that she was sick I not only saw her confidence dwindling, but I had also forgot how to take care of myself as well.
In July 2014, near the end of my mothers cancer battle, we found out that I was pregnant! My little bundle of joy brought so much life to our family again. Soon after, after several surgeries and bouts of chemo, we learned that my mother was cancer free!”
Beauty is a choice. Being a beautiful person doesn’t mean that you have the newest hairstyle or most perfect body. Being beautiful is treating others with kindness, going out of your way to be helpful and making other people happy even if nothing is in it for you. All of these ladies are beautiful and I am lucky to have been able to have the opportunity to get to know them!
