Grand Rapids Birth Photographer // What Made My Week – Vol 37!
So…I’m a little behind on my “what made my week” posts, but that’s because I’ve been busy. Like five sessions a week plus a wedding busy. But that leads me right to what has made my week over the past few….. All of you! My clients are absolutely the best! Being able to see your families begin and grow and entrusting me with these special memories means the world to me. If you would have asked me five years ago where I would be….my answer definitely wouldn’t have been here… It’s just crazy how things unfold and after making a few good decisions…ending up exactly where you should be. So….thank you!
Something else that made this past week extra special was being able to photograph Jax making his entrance into the world. Last summer I was at his mommy & daddy’s wedding…and this year he showed us his handsome face. I cry at many events and at many moments, but this….this one was super special. This wonderful family inviting me into their hospital room to share in something so special and so important makes me feel like one lucky lady. And knowing that Mieka pushed her vulnerabilities and privacy off to the side to be able to have great memories of Jax’s birth helps me to know that I’m doing exactly what I should be. Helping to preserve memories for lifetimes. I’m not just taking photos to post online, I’m creating herilooms and memories that will be passed on for hundreds of years. Wow! Thinking of it that way makes it seem even more important….
The photo above is perfect. I think momma’s face says it all.
Bottom left: contractions when I first arrived. Bottom right: contractions shortly before delivering…..yikes!
Sitting in the hospital room, I couldn’t help but feel thankful that I wasn’t giving birth that day…. But the second we saw his face, I knew it was all worth it!
Emotions were running high…I think Jay’s expression is quite similar to Melissa’s here, but both being of a different emotion.
Love!! Congratulations you two. I am so lucky and so blessed to be able to watch your family grow. I can’t wait to show some of his newborn photos next week!
