Lake Leelanau in Northern Michigan is absolutely gorgeous, but inspiration for your lakeside wedding right on the shores of Lake Leelanau is even better!
Shelby, from The Day’s Design, created the most gorgeous boho lakeside picnic inspired wedding that you could possibly imagine. There were endless layers of texture with wood grain, homemade food, vintage postcards, stunning florals, the backdrop of the stunning lake and even a canoe! When I think of a Northern Michigan wedding in the summer, this pretty much fits the bill….but even prettier!!
Our models for these photos were Aaron and Mandie and they were absolutely adorable. On the day of the shoot, it was their actual anniversary so it was so fitting. With loose boho braids and a gorgeous flower hairpiece that Shelby created, Mandie was breathtaking. We started at Lake Leelanau for photos and went to the “big lake”, Lake Michigan, for a few more photos at the end of the evening. It was simple, beautiful and fun. Just the way any wedding day should be!
Cherries from Northern Michigan….I can’t think of anything more perfect for a picnic-inspired wedding on Lake Leelanau.
Shelby sourced several vintage postcards to use as placeholders for each table setting….aren’t they the perfect detail?!
And these flowers…..OH MY! Stunning!
Just looking at this photo makes me happy. I can just imagine a slight breeze blowing through and friends and family playing yard games in the background.

Before the sun went down completely, we ran over to Van’s Beach in Leland for some portraits on Lake Michigan. It was the perfect cloudy evening 🙂
