The University Club of Grand Rapids Wedding | Seth & Katie’s Downtown Summer Wedding
Seth & Katie’s University Club of Grand Rapids wedding was such a perfect day.
I met Katie exactly five years before this day. The day after their wedding, a Facebook memory popped up on my phone from a trip that my friend, Heather, and I took to San Francisco together. It was such a fun trip. We ate lots of seafood, hiked through old Redwood Trees and toured wineries in Sonoma Valley even though neither of us liked wine. Also on that trip, we met up with her friend Katie. This beautiful bride right here! I remember, while touring one of the wineries, talking about how gorgeous it would be to photograph a Sonoma Valley wedding. The buildings were so beautiful and the foliage was so different than I was used to….basically drool-worthy scenery for a light and airy wedding photographer! To this day, I can still recall Katie saying, “Someday, I’ll have you take my wedding photos!” All throughout their day I kept thinking to myself…..”well…someday is here!”
Seth and Katie had such a fun day! Their family and friends surely know how to have a good time. It isn’t very often that we stay after our cameras are put away, but this time, we danced and danced. Everyone there made us feel so welcome and the Blue Water Kings Band was so good that everyone was on that dance floor! My favorite part of the day was seeing how happy Katie was walking down the aisle. You could just see it in her eyes that she was truly happy. Not happy for the wedding or for her pretty dress, but just happy to be marrying the man that was waiting for her at the end of the aisle. After all, that is what this is all about….isn’t it!?
Oh….and the dogs….they were a favorite too! (You’ll see more of them halfway through the post 😉 )

While I went to the reception venue to photograph all the pretty details….Joe went with the bridal party to photograph some rooftop fun at the ‘pre-party’! (I hear there was an after party too haha!)

Even though the clouds were hiding the sun for golden hour, it was still nice to take a few moments and just soak in the day 🙂
(We have tons of great dancing party photos….but I think we will err on the side of caution and not post any for the guest’s sake! The Blue Water Kings Band was amazing!!)
Seth & Katie – thank you SO much for asking us to be such a special part of your day. We loved being there for all the behind the scenes moments and hope that you enjoy these images for decades to come! You two truly were such a joy to work with and make our jobs even more of a dream than we could have imagined!
